How to apply for financial aid or scholarships at NUS

Below are the general steps on how to apply for financial aid or scholarships at NUS. Always remember that each scholarship or financial aid program has its own requirements and application procedures.

However, I can provide you with a general overview of the steps you might need to follow. I recommend checking NUS’s official website or contacting their financial aid office directly for the most up-to-date information.

  1. Research Available Scholarships: NUS offers various scholarships and financial aid options. Start by visiting the NUS website’s scholarship page or financial aid section to explore the scholarships available to your specific program or country.
  2. Check Eligibility Criteria: Each scholarship or financial aid program will have specific eligibility criteria, such as academic performance, nationality, or financial need. Ensure you meet the requirements for the scholarships you intend to apply for.
  3. Prepare Necessary Documents: Different scholarships may require different documents, but some common ones include academic transcripts, recommendation letters, statement of purpose, and proof of financial need. Make sure to gather and prepare all necessary documents.
  4. Apply for Admission to NUS: Most scholarship applications at NUS are tied to the admission process. You typically need to apply for admission to NUS before you can apply for scholarships. Follow the regular application process for your desired course of study.
  5. Apply for Scholarships: Once you have applied for admission and have been offered a place at NUS, you can then apply for the scholarships for which you are eligible. Some scholarships might require a separate application, while others might automatically consider all admitted students.
  6. Submit Scholarship Applications: Follow the instructions provided for each scholarship application carefully. Pay attention to deadlines and ensure you submit all required documents and information.
  7. Await Notification: After submitting your scholarship applications, you will have to wait for the selection process to conclude. Successful candidates will be notified by the university.
  8. Acceptance and Enrollment: If you are awarded a scholarship, you will typically receive instructions on how to accept the scholarship offer. After accepting the scholarship, complete the necessary enrollment process to officially join NUS.

You can apply for the NUS Financial Aid Package if you have been offered and have not rejected the MOE Tuition Grant (TG) for your undergraduate studies (although SCs and SPRs who have not been offered or have rejected the MOE TG may apply for Financial Aid and be considered for some of the schemes under the Financial Aid Package).

Students who are reading the Concurrent Degree Programmes will no longer be eligible for the Financial Aid Package for undergraduate once they are charged graduate tuition fees. Such students can consider applying for Scholarships and Financial Aid for graduate students, and more details can be found here.
